año 2017

Proyecto: Vodafone Networks Center of Excellence, Solution Architect.

Vodafone Networks Center of Excellence, Group Technology Strategy and Architecture (GTSA). Solution Consultant involved in various projects active in the team. Several contracts along the referred period:

o Assessment and selection of the Next Generation Security Gateways (SeGW) for Vodafone Group.
RFQ involving 6 Vodafone OpCos and global suppliers. Technical evaluation works: requirements definition (TRS), vendor evaluation for both Hardware and Virtualized NFV Solutions (SeGW VNF), with special emphasis in performance, high availability and efficiency. For the virtualized approach, assessment of the main principles followed by each vendor (hypervisors, EMS/VNFM, single/multi-VM per VNF, use of vLBs, resource usage as no.physical cores per VM/VNF, scale out/in & up/down capabilities, etc.).

o SeGW rollout for IPsec protection of 2G/3G Radio Base Stations (Abis and Iub interfaces over IP transport): technical and economical assessment for different OpCo Scenarios (small, medium, large deployments).

o Technical assessment of Securization of inter-eNodeB X2 interface in LTE networks.

The activities accomplished required a solid knowledge in mobile networks (2G, 3G, LTE), security architectures and protocols (SeGW, IPsec, PKI), main NFV principles applied to the different solutions, together with a close cooperation with a wide set of Vodafone teams at both Group and OpCo levels, as well as vendors across several countries.

Proyecto: Ministry of Interior (SGIP). IoT Architect, Project Manager.

IoT based Energy Efficiency Solution for Spanish Ministry of Interior, consisting of a multi-vendor wireless Zigbee architecture delivered to SGIP (Secretaría General de Instituciones Penitenciarias), providing real time monitoring of energy consumption (electricity and heating oil) in 50+ Penitentiary Centres in Spain. Several contracts along the referred period.

Responsible for the inception, design and implementation of the complete solution, coordinating a team of 5 engineers and liaising with stakeholders of the customer and different institutions involved in the project (SGIP, ISDEFE). Main deliverables accomplished:
• Solution architecture:
End to end design, covering devices deployed in the field, network design, security assurance and management information systems in the cloud.
• HW devices design and implementation:
Zigbee nodes with customized Zigbee profile and ad hoc hardware (SBC based).
The devices include also WiFi, wired LAN connectivity and routing + firewall capabilities.
Ad hoc integration with specific sensors.
Ad hoc development of device firmware.
• Cloud based management system:
Design and development of an IoT platform for this vertical application, based on SOA (Web Services), enabling a continuous supervision of the deployed devices, reliable data storage and information analysis.

Proyecto: Vodafone Technology Networks (VTN). Solution Architect.

WiFi traffic offloading project - WiFi integration with Vodafone mobile packet core for dynamic traffic offloading, according to the latest available 3GPP LTE standards and state of the art techniques.

Technical assistance in the architectural design. Detailed analysis of the key challenges and preparation of solution proposals.
RFI elaboration, analysis of responses and interaction with the incumbent vendors.

The work required deep knowledge in 3G and 4G architecture (LTE & EPC); ability to envisage approaches for challenges not covered yet by the 3GPP standards at that time; strategic analysis (overall picture of Operator objectives for the Solution) and ability to interact with vendors in technical, commercial and project execution aspects.

Proyecto: Vodafone Global Enterprise (VGE). E2E Service Engineer.

VONE-C Project. Hosted PBX with Fixed-Mobile Convergence, based on Cisco Unified Communications, Ericsson IMS and Atos NGIN, with PSTN/PLMN interworking functionality.

End to End Service Engineer acting as technical lead for the Solution integration with Vodafone OpCos in different countries (VF Czech Republic and VF Hungary).

The duties accomplished required a strong background in IMS architecture, SIP and SS7, as well as project management skills to handle the different stakeholders: from Vodafone engineering teams to suppliers in a fully international environment.

Proyecto: Telefónica NGIN migration. Technical Lead

Several contracts along the referred period.

o Technical lead in Amdocs jNetX for the design and accomplishment of the NGIN vendor selection Trials. A challenging, high-pressure project, in which every single aspect of the product was analyzed, tested and validated by the customer, involving also the development of various Services and Resource Adapters. In close competition with Huawei and Alcatel-Lucent (currently Nokia), Amdocs was among the vendors selected by Telefónica Group for their NGIN transformation process.

o Specification, architecture design and validation of the integration between jNetX and Huawei platforms as per Telefónica requirements, giving as result a common NGIN infrastructure for the Operator (jNetX-Huawei Dual SLEE framework). Works carried out for Telefónica Corporate (Group level), Telefónica Spain and Telefónica O2 Czech Republic.

- Works of consultancy, training, prototyping and proof of concept development for Operators and System Integrators in Europe (Russia, Finland, Greece, Croatia, Poland), Latin America (Mexico, Brazil) and Africa (South Africa, Egypt), involving deep knowledge of the Amdocs jNetX JAIN SLEE platform and signaling protocols in the SS7 and IMS domains.
